need some info on the new E55
figured you guys could help. My dad is looking into getting one, what are the chances of finding one at MSRP? I've only seen cars w/ a premium. I know someone on here had a holding spot for one but instead got a CL55.
Also, has anyone driven one? What are your thoughts?

Nowhere on the west coast will you find one at sticker. I've driven several of them, both modified and stock, and it is the sickest sedan I have ever driven.
You can order them with two-tone interiors, dual front and rear sunroof (panoramic roof), solar powered climate control. These things are unbelievable. I see many in L.A. paying over $100k easily, and they are well worth it, but if you wait and get one at $85k, even better deal.

if you order one are you charged a premium? The problem is he just turned in his S500 on the lease and now really doesn't have a car to drive. So he's kind of on the ball. Looks like it'll be a new 7 series <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="frown.gif" />

I've been on a E55 waiting list for a little while now and bought a 745Li to drive in the mean time.
Although the 7 is a great car, I feel that if you do resell it, you will take a big hit on the resale. Otherwise, I like my new 7 for everyday driving. Did have some problems with i-Drive when I first picked it up (the screen blanked out), but the car has been trouble free since.

My understanding is that Mercedes dealers are not allowed to sell "NEW" (unregistered) vehicles for over MSRP. In order to extract maximum market value for a car, the dealers will "sell" the hot cars to friends, family, and celebrities on the condition that they will purchase the vehicle back that same week for the same price they sold it.
Now the dealer has a "used" (previously registered) vehicle, and they can do whatever they darn well please with respect to price. As far as I know, there are no "NEW" E55's selling for over sticker.
The other alternative is that the dealer will add chrome wheels, Permaplate, LoJack, and other "value-added" accessories and use this as the premium for the car.

Trojan Man,
where did u hear that???
it certainly is not the case in most LA MB dealer.
just to name few...
SouthBay MB, "new" E55, $20,000 over MSRP. SL55, still $25,000-30,000 over.
it makes me really hate them.
i would have got a SL55 before C4S if they sell for MSRP. i hate them, hate, hate, hate. i love the car but i don't want to hand them $30,000 just for some f**king ugly chrome wheels and Lojack.
just wondering... if u know the dealer personally, can u get a AMG car at "MSRP"?

Just got of the phone with Beverly Hills Mercedes, and just quoted me $14k over on a brand NEW fully optioned E55!
$100k! Thats what they are going for around here...demand must be very high!

That's completely false. No NEW unregistered E55 is being sold at MSRP. I purchased my '03 E55 last month in LA and paid $5k over, only because I have great relationship with my dealership. And that's consider a great deal in the current climate. Dealers in New York, Boston, Florida, and midwest are still marking up new unregistered E55's minimum $10k. I used to believe this "not allowed to sell NEW vehicles above MSRP," but it's a myth.

I believe that used to be the rule, "MSRP" on new unregistered cars. However, that changed when the new SL came out. Ever since, MBUSA has allowed dealers to charge what ever they want.
Not fair in my opinion. You might want to try House of Imports in Buena Park. I have been able to find SL 55's from them at very close to MSRP.
