Question X50 boost max query

Just read an article about an X50 in the UK magazine 'Autocar'. X50 came out as the fastest point-to-point car in the 'real' world.

One small query though, the magazine mentions the max boost on the guage of 0.7 bar, whereas mine goes to 0.8 bar... Is this normal? What should it go to?

Thanks

FJ

Thanks

Stock 996TT @0.8 bar
X50 996TT @0.9 bar
996 GT2 @1.0 bar

All above are factory specs.

These factory max specs can be seen mainly in optimum conditions and for a few fractions of a second , i.e. , don't blink. Usually requires optimimum gas octane , cool outside temp , low starting RPM in a higher gear , WOT, alignment of Jupiter and Venus and a slight uphill grade . Seems like " everyday " max boost is .7/.8/.9 , respectively , on these cars .

You will hit 0.9 during a boost spike. If you get the car in its sweet spot (the right RPM's) you will see 0.9...

Chipped cars I've got up to 1.3 or 1.4 spikes...

.8 is max boost during everyday driving. You have to *really* keep it at WOT to get to .9. I have only hit .9 bar a few times, and those were at the back straight at Sebring.

At least, that's my personal experience based on driving all three Turbo variants. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

Jack, I noticed in your photo's that you changed your wheels to Fikse Profil 13's. Those are the wheels I'm thinking about getting. Is that the standard techni-polish finish and are those Boothe center caps. Are they 18's or 19's. They look great by the way.

BTW, if you're interested in these wheels, they can be had (with virtually new Pirellis) at a great price. The Turbo is being replaced by a GT3, so I'll need to order different offset/size Fikses for the new car. The new owner wants to go less "high profile" so the stock wheels are going back on the Turbo. E-mail me if you have any interest.
