Dead battery....HELP!
Hey guys,
I tried to take the car out yesterday and turned the key to hear, click, click, click in a very fast repetitive pattern. Driving conditions in New Jersey in the recent months have not been desirable (snow, sleet, rain, etc.) so I have only started the car and let it idle over these months. All indications are that the battery has discharged. The voltmeter reads just over 10 volts with the key in the ignition. I want to disconnect the battery and recharge it but I recall hearing about issues associated with the immobilization system not functioning properly afterwards. Is this an issue and are there any other issues associated with disconnecting the battery to recharge?
All help would be appreciated.

I have removed the battery from my Boxster several times and have charged it many times when it was hooked up to the car - no problem.
If you disconnect the battery the dme will lose its settings, but it relearns them when you start driving. Jeff

To avoid this problem I bought the Porche Tequipment battery maintainer (we have similar weather problems here in Boston!). Really does the trick and keeps battery charged at all times.
