I think it's generally an accepted fact that a 993 and a 996 with similar degrees of modification will result in the 996 being faster.

Look at the 993 GT2 vs. 996 GT2 around the track. No comparison. If the 993 was truly faster, do you think the independent race teams would be running 996 based cars instead?

993 is better looking, but not a better performer .
