Ahh, but your last Kia rental can't spank a stock 996 turbo in the 1/4 mile, now can it?

Oh, I don't know. Maybe because it's part of a photo shoot for the September issue of Car & Driver magazine?
(do I sense a little hostility here, folks? It was a humorous post!)

Hey,
I think it's a great photo. Don't really understand the hostility, but that's pretty cool Treynor. Are you planning any other mods to the S600 (bigger turbos ..etc)? Looks pretty bad ***!

Hey Ben,
Haven't seen your posts ever since you sold the M5 a while back.
I think cjv or wilber would probably love to run ya for slips! Not against the Viper though, unless it was on a road course.
Wilber's Protomotive car could easily smoke all 4 tires like that if he were to dump the clutch at high rpm's. Not healthy for the car, but you could do it.
But the real question is, can your S600 throw flames out of the exhaust too and make a nice whistle with the blow off valves every time you back off the throttle?
You need to make the wife's car a little more Fast and Furious!!!

Heh. CJV's 996 would walk all over the Benz in a straight line, and it'd just get worse (much worse) in a road course. I might consider setting up a "who can transport 5 people + luggage comfortably across the country" type challenge, however

You've got me there That's what the Viper is for!
As for my wife's car, it's getting heads + cam this winter. Shhhhh, she doesn't know (and probably won't figure it out either, since I'm keeping the exhaust stock)...
"Say sweetie -- my car feels so much more responsive since its 6000 mile service!" "Must be because I got the premium oil change & air filters, hon."

My wife's car is the '03 Viper. H+C on the S600 remain stock - it's fast enough for my purposes as is, and I like having a warranty on at least ONE of our cars...

sweet, I thought the S6 was the wifes car. But the 03' is even nicer for her. Is that what she drives on a daily basis?
or is it one of those things like my moms new vette is really my dads new vette

She alternates between commuting in the Viper and in her SUV, depending on weather and errand needs. However, it's definitely her car. In fact, the license plate is

It's my rear plate as well. Oddly, my friends don't poke fun at it at all. No idea why... perhaps it's because they don't relish the idea of being the featured car which I abuse next time we're both up at the dragstrip
Especially since I have a tendency to videotape and post the dragstrip kills on the 'net within hours of their occurring...
