So I spent my weekend installing the bailey valves. It took me a day and a half, not because of a difficult install, but because I was multi-tasking aka heavily distracted. I also was shooting in the dark as far as knowing what to do, until I finally talked to oak on the phone and he pointed me in the right direction, Thanks again Wayne! The difference is more than noticable. Not only has the honking disappeared, and it was a constant nuisance before, but the car feels more substantial. Get on the boost quicker and pulls through. I had some ricer messing with me on the 405 last night a 4am. Downshifted into 4th, and within seconds I rocketed up to 135 not even meaning to...I feel the torque curve has smoothed out a little. Of course this could all be psycological, but these are my first impressions. All in all, a worthy upgrade...
Oaks the man...

My dealer just replaced my diverter valves and I definitely feel a differnce. It does seem to get to boost faster and the car feels quicker. It may be in my head..but....cjv...my dealer is fixing to install unichip and air filter. I am going to stick with stock exhaust for now because I can't decide which one to go with. How much hp gain can i expect from those mods and will the gains be in the low end ( 1-4 gears) ?? Thanks Mac

I ordered mine today and will have the Racers Group install them when I take the car up to them to do the Unichip install. Can anyone tell me what kind of HP I can expect with the Unichip, BMC air filter & a Fabspeed GT-2 exhaust??? CJV?? I will have it tuned for performance throughout the powerband and possibly do the A/B switch like CJV for use with higher octane fuel??

I looked at the Forge when I was in need of replacement valves for my Audi. I heard a couple reports of some sticking issues on other web boards.
My biggest complaint was that they were advertised as rebuildable and eventually may need to be rebuilt. The Bailey is not rebuildable and does not need to be serviced.
That was all I needed to hear, and I have been happy with my choice.

AWE is the NA distributor for the Baileys. Ask for Todd, tell him you need a 90 degree vacuum fitting. The one on the website shows the version for an Audi S4.
The Bailey can be rebuilt if needed, but they have a lifetime guarantee, if anything goes wrong with them you can just exchange them for a new one.
More boost faster!

My Mechanic was using dump and blow-off interchangeably but I have a Retraction:
Fried Chicken pointed out...Well I'll just cut and paste:
"Actually a dump and diverter are the same thing, but a
blow off releases boost into the atmosphere. That is
the whoosh noise you hear on a rally car for example.
A Dump or Diverter vents the boost back to the low
pressure side of the turbo. It keeps all of the boost
in the system rather than releasing it.
A blow off valve will not work on a car with a Mass
Air Sensor such as the 996TT. Since the boost has been
vented to the atmosphere the mass will detect a loss
of boost and cause the computer to add fuel. The car
will run rich and you will lose performance"

The term "blow off valves" are usually used for pressure releif valves that vent off into the atomosphere.
Diverter valves are designed to vent back into the intake for FI metering.

I used Forge Dv's in the past, I had problems with them sticking open and not closing correctly, also had problems with the retaining screws backing out, (over tapped holes). I wanted to replace it with a new one, they sent a repair kit, and some Loc-tight!
Although they look cool.
The Bailey DV's are a no non sense DV. If you don't want the hassles of having to rebuild or replace, just get the Bailey's and be done with it! Believe me it's something you do not want to do more than once.
