Post X50 gear ratios

Just got my TT with X50. The manual shows a nearly identical top speed to the standard TT(190 vs 189). An earlier thread mentioned shorter gearing to control top speed. Does anyone know which ratios changed and how much.
The other thing that I can't quite figure out is how the power feels in relationship to where the torque curves are. The torque curve is shown as flat from about 2000-5000 RPM's. But, the character of the acceleration really changes right at 3500. Granted, I'm still limited to break-in red line ( and the owner's manual doesn't give a specific X50 power curve). I just wondered if my observation is typical or specific to the X50.

Alexander: Just curious - is the redline increased with the X50 option? I have one on order - hoping for April build.

I think it's 67 or 6800. I'll double check when I go out tomorrow and repost if I got it wrong. AS

AS,

Just a couple of questions about X50:

1. Are turbos the same as GT2 turbos (same p/n)?
2. Is there a transmission cooler?

Thank you.

I'm told the turbos are the same. The mechanic who did the final prep at the dealer said the engine is a GT2 engine. No trans cooler though.
By the way, the red line is at 6600.
When I compare my observed mph/1000 rpm in 6th gear, the ratio seem taller than that suggested by the manual for the standard tt. There is no modification to the manual for the X50 option, so the ratios remain unexplained. A friend with a 2001 GT2 shared that manual with me. It too is tha same TT manual with no reference to the new specs.AS

Hi,
Here the power/torque curves for stock 996TT and X50.

AS,
thank you for the confirmation of GT2 turbos on X50. Now I believe Porsche will have very hard time denying warranty on a 996TT with GT2 turbos. They might argue about the transmission warranty, but not on the engine/turbo warranty!
