GIAC Confusion - Help!!!
Hi,
For all of you TT owners with GIAC chips, I have a few questions that thus far no one seems to have the answer to.
I am definitley interested in getting an ECU upgrade for my X50 TT as I hear that this is an easy way to get loads of extra HP (up to 20% increase). I am interested in the new GiAC IBE Chiswitch Gen2 system. However, no one seems to be clear about waht programs are included with this!
EVO Motorsports sells the regular GIAC ECU as stage 2, 3, 4 etc... Someone I spoke to however (another GIAC sistributor) said that the Chipswitch inclusdes a stock, street (91-93 octane), rac (100) octane and valet programs.
What exactly is the stage 4 program? Can I get say a stage 3 and 4 on my GIAC instead of their street and race programs?
Quoting the info I got in an e-mail "I wouldn't pay so much attention the "stage label." These programs are application and gas specific. For a K24 equipped car, you will get a street program which is based on 91-93 octane gas and a race program that is based on 100+ octane. You can call the first a stage III and the second a stage IV if you like."
What programs are most X50 people using? I am going to do engine mods and change many things except the turbochargers.
Any info to help resolve this confusion would be great so that I can place my order ASAP - Summer is around the corner

The IBE has not yet been publicly released. When it is released, the programs loaded in the computer will depend on the other upgrades that the car has. If you run our sport exhaust, we can integrate an X50 stage 3 program (approx. 540 HP) an X50 stage 4 program (proprietary to EVO & EVO Dealers) (approx. 600 HP on 93 octane fuel-- see http://forums.rennlist.com/forums/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=001666 ), an X50 100 octane race program (+20 hp / +20 TQ to stage 4), an X50 valet mode (limits the top speed to 30 mph) and the stock X50 program for dealer service.
Hope this helps clarifies things. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can call me at 480-317-9911 to discuss this in greater detail. Take care, Todd
