Post Big Sur Porsche Tour

Come one, come all and experience a spirited drive down to scenic Big Sur, CA. We will meet at the Bernal Starbucks located in the Albertsons shopping center in South San Jose, CA on Saturday August 24. The address is:

Bernal & Via Del Oro - San Jose
125 Bernal Road
San Jose, CA 95119
408-362-1129

Plan to meet at about 9:00 am. Departure will be at approximately 9:30 am. Route maps and additional details will be provided. No need to RSVP, just show up and plan on a full day of driving along some of Northern California's finest coastal roads.

Hope to see all you N. California Rennlisters on the 24th!

That sounds like fun, I'm going to try and make it. It's a long drive for me. Got any idea were you plan on ending up?

Tim,

The basic route I'm laying out begins in S. San Jose and runs back roads to Gilroy, then West on 152 to Watsonville, S. on hwy 1. to Big Sur. The drive back will retrace hwy 1 to Carmel, up Carmel Valley, across to Laguna Seca and then back up 101 for a quick ride home or, back to hwy 1 and up through Capitola to Los Gatos for the more adventurous.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, this is not a "sponsored" drive and is not affiliated with ANY organization. I'm simply sending out a message to all Rennlister's to offer an opportunity to meet other Bay Area Porsche owners. Everyone is free to drive their own route at their own pace, or drive with me and a few dozen of my Porsche friends!

I will provide several stopping points on the way down and back to allow drivers to regroup or join the group (if coming from another direction).

I hope to see you there!

Sounds good Matt!
Do you use any communication between cars?
(Ain't got no damn CB!)
That's a great route to drive.
I was thinking about posting a run up to South Lake Tahoe via emigrant gap, it’s a great road wide open (Clean and recently paved) and you can get some burst runs with out the fear of on coming cars.

Tim,

Drivers can use whatever communications they'd like. I am going to provide maps and designate meeting places but that's it! If I try to coordinate communications or keep everyone together as a group, it gets too complicated and liability issues arise.

Sounds like fun, and it could be a perfect opportunity to continue my break-in period for my new MY02 Turbo X50. I will do my best to meet up with everyone.

jro996,

May I borrow the one you're not using?

Looking forward to seeing you there. So far, only the 993 board and the 996 Turbo board have replied in any way. We're up to about 10 cars now I think.
