X50 -- Power Enhancement Kit
"The 911 Turbo adds an optional engine enhancement performance package that increases horsepower to 450 (331 kW) @ 5,700 rpm and sustains 457 lb.-ft (620 Nm) of peak torque from 3,500 - 4,500 rpm. The new package includes modifications to the turbo charger, air intake cooler, electronic control unit, exhaust system and a strengthened transmission. This option cannot be retrofitted to the standard 2001 and 2002 911 Turbo."
MSRP for option X50 is US$17,700, CAD$24,400.
Whether it's worth it or not is entirely up to you. It is big bucks for such a small change but some people are willing to pay it simply to have Porsche modifications as opposed to aftermarket.

The X50 in my opinion is worth it. You are getting a GT2 with for $50000.00 less with 4wd. Granted you can have your car tuned aftermarket for a lot less money and get more HP but you void the factory warranty. I have owned both a stock TT and an X50. Even though its only rated at 35HP more I think the the HP is under rated. There is a big difference in the overall feel of the cars especially at speeds over 100MPH. Even though you will not get all your money back when you sell it IMO X50's are going to bring a little more money. I think in MY02 there was only about 250 X50's made which represents about 5% of the Turbo's made in 2002. Now that the option is readily available obviously that number is gonna go up but even if its 20% of the production run there will still not be that many cars out there. I would go for the option but thats just my opinion.

All I can add to Duane is t say that I have 7000 miles on my X50, and have been glad I had it for every mile after break-in. From idle to 3500rpm, the differences aren't apparant. From 3500 up, it's a different ball game. Duane is right in saying it's more obvious over 100. In my opinion it's because you're out of first and second so fast in either that you don't experience the hp boost. If you get a chance to try one, make sure you get into third. On a 3 lane highway, it feels like a video game with all the other cars moving backwards. Also can't overstate the peace-of-mind that comes with an intact warranty. No bad choices really. In part, it depends on how long you want to keep the car. I keep the a long time (8-10 years) so the extra cost per year is low. AS
