MoTec or FVD ?
Hi all,
Being in Australia I can get access to MoTec. I have heard a few good comments on the products. Should I consider MoTec for my brain upgrade ?
What will be the difference between MoTec and FVD ?
I know FVD has programmed the brain to work for Porsches. In MoTec, will I have to do it manually ?
TIA

cjv,
Thats great news. My question will be, with FVD its plug and go, but with Motec, will I have to program each feature manually ? eg fuel calibration etc ?

PN,
Yes, Motec, Haltec, TECIII and all the like require extensive setups and calibrations. We spend hours on the street and dynos mapping and sorting these systems out so they have parameters to go by. You install the unit then tell it the guide lines you want set. They basically come empty and are nothing than a stupid box waiting for an input. <img border="0" alt="[blabla]" title="" src="graemlins/a_smil17.gif" />
The programming we do as well as FVD is similar in the fact that you provide us with specific details such as octane, region, mods etc and desired HP level and we will reprogram your ECU to accommodate this. It takes 48hours verses 48 days to do. Setting up any of the third part injection systems take experience and time to do. It is not a plug and play.

CJV, MoTeC isn't street legal?
MoTeC I feel is by far the best one w/ the most options, the only problem is the fact that you have to pay so much for those options. We installed a MoTeC unit on a civic in our shop and it's amazing the tuning you can do. Also, I like the fact that they have licensed dealers that are knowledgable and willing to help!
