Default Advice on this 996TT

Hello:
Been away with an '03 M3 for 3 years, had '02 996 previously.
With that out of the way... I am now actively looking for a 01-02 996 TT. I found one, an '01, bl/bl, carbon, nav. Clean carfax with 20k miles. Looks great, smells great. I made an offer, contingent on mechanic inspection and nopaintwork/accidents, of $70k, which was accepted after much back and forth. The car was located far away from home, but made a special trip to see it. I put a paint meter all over the car and got results b/w 3.5-5.0 mils, EXCEPT the hood, which had 8.5 mils of paint on it. I am assuming SOMETHING happened to this car's hood??? I am in a holding pattern trying to figure what I sho uld re-offer, condisering the paintwork. Still love the car, but not at $70k.

What should this car be worth, considering heavy paint on hood??
TIA
DJ

The car is worth the same, the cars a re like 5-6 year olds and som things happend to them

As long as the paint is perfect the car is worth the same

My car, I just found out, had paintwork on front bumper, hood, and fenders. But it has no sign of bodywork. Alot of cars get resprayed after rock chips damage. These cars are 5-6 years-old. There would have to be some paint history on most. Check for bodywork, don't just rely on the paint meter.

i would did into it a bit more ... see if you can contact the dealer in the area where the car came from and find out some additional information. Without paint on the fenders, it is possible that the hood was painted for cosmetic reasons, but you never know. If the hood was repainted (accident or cosmetic), it would definitively be worth less to me. Just my .02.
