Orange lights on my '01 TT
Does anyone know what the purpose of those little orange lights are for? On both doors and just below the rear view mirror there are small orange lights that are on all of the time.....even when the car is turned off. What are they?
Thanks

My owner's manual states that the lights are for low level illumination of the center console (from under the rear view mirror), and of the door openers/handles. There's also a similar light from the front of the driver's door pull that illuminates the ignition switch. There's a tiny (3mm size) round recessed button on the front side of the roof console where the interior lights are that changes the brightness of the light from under the rear view mirror.

IIRC, they should not stay on all the time, but will be on as long as the key is in/car is running and will stay on until you exit the vehicle (time out then shut off).
Are yours really on all the time? Any other lights/systems staying on as well?
The orange LED's draw very little current, but if they are on continuously either your battery will discharge or your trickle charger will be running them for you.

They do it fact stay on all of the time....my fathers '01 does the same. Another set of lights that never go off are the lights down on the drivers side door sill where the seat adjustment settings are. If the car is unlocked in the garage they never go off. Doesn't anyone else have these lights staying on when car is not locked?
