Default Searching and have a question

I tried using the search button, but for some reason it kept giving me a blank page. So here is my question. I'm looking into purchasing my first turbo 911 and was wondering if there are any differences between 01-05? Has there been any problems with the earlier model? Is there anything I should look for during inspection.

Thanks

Do an advanced search using the key word "differences", referenced to the 996 Turbo forum...

Plenty of posts exactly on this topic. Short answer the whole model line is incredible, get the newest one you can!! No real problems mechanically with any of the 996TT's production run, not even the first!!
Good Luck , let us know when you join the club!

Thanks guys...I just read everything there is to know about the years. Basically the only difference between 01 and 02+ is, Bose radio, glove box, hallow spoke wheels, bumper, and I notice the air condition unit has been moved to the lower part of the center console. Now some say the stiffness has changed and other say its the same. Does anyone know if there were any changes? Last question, does X50 package just add more horsepower?

X50 also has a beefed up transmission as well as bigger turbos and more HP.

The 65K is good, and will probably stay off the steep depreciation curve that brought it to this point (at least $12,000 per year by my estimate). Since the new DSG isn't here yet, I think 997tt's will depreciate quickly as well, since the technological and styling "upgrades" are relatively minor.
The 29,000 mile car is probably finishing it's second set of tires, so count on that expense. The 30,000 mile service will also be substantial. Have you cited those as negotiating facts, or have they been addresed? AS

Those were part of the negotiation. The 30,000 miles has not been done and there is about 40% tread left on the tires.
I have just found another 01 with 10k miles and he wants 69K. Which do you think is a better deal?

Thanks

10 miles or 10K. I would prefer an 03 with 10K miles. An 01 mite have leaking issues since the car may have been sitting for long periods of time.

On the earlier cars that had the "warts", if you removed them, is there going to be any kind of holes that would need to be filled?

I'm also potentially in the market for a 996 TT. I have heard of problems like rear main seal issues with the 996. Is that info accurate and does it also apply to the TT? Is the TT motor distinctly different from the base Carerra models (apart from the turbos obviously) i.e. I was under the impression it was not the same core engine and thus would not suffer from those issues. Am I wrong? There is an '02 on the local Porsche dealership's website, they want $84.5k for it which sounds just a little bit high but not out of reason, I haven't checked if it has the X50 package.

For comparisons sake my buddy is selling his 02 coup with 14,000 miles for 78K. I think that is a little on the high side though. His is also certified with the extended warranty and all stock.
