Advice on car search
I totalled my 996 C2 six months ago and after taking my time to think about what I wanted from my next toy and researching the various possible options (BMW, Vet, Viper, etc...), I decided on a 996 Turbo about two weeks ago.
I'm looking for an 01-02 996 Turbo, Silver with Black or Grey interior, under 30k (under 20k desirable), CPO, excellent condition both internal and external.
My local market has squat right now (I live in the Seattle area) and am looking for suggestions on how best to search for a Turbo. I'm working with a dealer (Barrier) who thinks they can find a car in the next month. So basically, I'm just sitting here waiting for the phone to ring.
The problem is, I'm an A-type and not very good at sitting and waiting for a phone to ring, my daily driver is a ford truck which shouldn't be driven as fast as I drive it at times, and i'm see 911's every day at work/gym/school drop off. Basically, I'm having a major case of Porsche withdrawls and its getting worse. I made the mistake of test driving a Turbo (which was mis-represented by a dealer ... wasting my time and energy to go see it) which only made my withdrawls worse.
So, I'm looking for suggestions/recommendations on how I might be able to conduct my own search to find a car (key myself busy at least while I wait). I'm also all ears for any other general suggestions/opinions/comments on buying a used Turbo.
BTW, my current thinking is that I want to stick only with CPO (certified pre-owned) cars since I know squat about cars (just love to drive them) and don't have a relationship with any mechanic other then at the Porsche dealership.
Thanks,
Bart

My buddy is selling a 2002 TT Silver/Black with 14,000 miles. It's down here in SoCal. Let me know if your interested. That being said check out autotrader.com and ebay.
It's not CPO at this time. But if you do an in and out at a Porsche dealership they will CPO it for you. Around $2,000. By the way his is totally stock.
