Default More Boost and mapping

I bought a 2001 996 Turbo 6 Speed and want to increase boost pressure and map the software.

Did anyone use Haltech or Motec or a similar engine management system on 996 Turbo? I do not want to buy a ready chip, instead work on my car own car.

I am planning to keep standard ECU in place and run an engine management system parallel to it. Will stock ECU come in and cause "boost cut"?

Why not just make it easy and GIAC it with the flashloader.

Haltech...? After his Corvette hydrolock fiasco I'm shocked anyone would give that whining crook a dime

The common ecu guys are Giac (flash loading parallel), Upsolute (hard wired parallel), and FVD (new ecu). Pluses and minuses for each.

If you are planning to DIY you might want to look into some of the "tuning" software that is available commercially. It looks like everyone and their brother has access to the DAMOS files (check any p2p network) describing the map formats used in the 996TT (and the 997 & 996 & 993 & boxster & cayenne & etc.). Writing to flash ram is no longer a proprietary process either (SAE J2534) so it might be cheaper than going with a standalone engine management solution. Depending on your level of experience (dyno-access, etc.) you might just be better off going with a solution from ImagineAuto, etc.

Other than using a signal massager (Unichip) how would you go about doing that? The two systems would fight each other? And if you go with straight Motec you lose all the diagnostic capabilities of Bosch Motronic and depending on the emissions testing process of the place you live in you might not even be able to pass (most US states require an OBD2 connection on anything produced after MY96)

Yes unless you replace the throttle-body (I don't remember seeing any software solutions).

turbo, lots of good stuff available as the above have mentioned and I concur. some things lend them selves to the DIYer and some dont, this project may fall into the latter category!
Reason? doing it for fun or to save $ if for fun may end up costing more money!

good luck , let us know how it goes

first of all, thanks for the answers.

the reason why I would like to try an engine management system, rather than getting brand XYZ software is because I love to control air fuel ratios and ignition timing with my own hands.

I have highly modded BMW M3s and M Coupes where boost is set at 32-34 psi continuously. I have been using different systems on BMWs and now want to try one of them on my 996 tt.

When using TSI engine management system all diagnostic fearures, cam control, knock control are preserved. I can tune any area of the map I want. It does not take a long time to map the software. I am dying to do this project as I have 32-34 psi daily M3s.

I need a favor: wiring diagram of a 2001 tt so that wiring of the TSI engine management system will be made.

u will blow ur car up doing anything over 1.6 bars sustained.... a few guys did already....
there are less then 4 guys to my knowledge that know how to tune a TT motronic ecu....
I would reconsider ur need for speed and go with something proven....
