What is the best BANG FOR YOUR BUCK as far as upgrading horsepower to about 500-600?
When in idle , my car sounds a bit like its chugging along. Speed Gallery told me that changing the spark plugs and possibly the diverter valve would solve this.
But after driving an upgraded 996TT of theirs, I feel like my stock turbo is too slow. They will charge me about $800 to change the spark plugs and diverter valve. But I am thinking maybe I should just do an upgrade to the car which would include a spark plug changes anyways.
What would be the best upgrade as far as money is concerned? How much $$ would this cost? And is it worth it? Will it effect my warranty?

Most popular upgrade is ECU reprogram with exhaust change, and diverter valves
== approx 500 hp. This is probably best bang for buck. Several good options
as to where to have it done.
500 and 600 hp are two completely different animals IMHO;
600 requires different turbos, intake (lower engine or remove it to accomplish) along
with several other suggested items like new upgraded clutch, better intercoolers,
etc. It is a slippery slope as they say.
Good luck, the place you are at has obviously done alot of this.

For $600 you can't get squat. You can do an Upsolute chip for about $800 and get 40 hp or so.
From all your shotgun posts, it might be best to sit at stock right now and put some thought and research behind your wallet

To get an honest 500 hp, I think you have to get the following:
1. High HP exhaust (not a sound only exhaust like Tubi, AWE, Remus, or GHL)
2. Blow-off valves
3. ECU upgrade
4. Air intake, of course knowing the issues associated with them

And what are the know issues associated with the air intake?

100 cell cats and performance exhaust and ECU flash.... if we are going for actual bang for the buck (noise aside) fabspeed cats and straight pipe and your tips with work costs about 2.5k and as Dock says Upsolute ECU flash so you are out a little over 3k and may get 60-80 reliable hp. And Dock is right your DV's are ok but with additional boost you may concider upgrade cause stock units dont last.
Otherwise I'm in JP's boat.
To keep costs down dont "need" intake upgrade and from the problems I have read about on this forum I have personally stayed away (for now).
Good Luck
let us know, we love this stuff.......oh and guys.......play nice!!!

Too many guys complain of MAf issues and Cel lights... especially in colder wether.. and when driven hard up on top. but nothing can beat $$700 I guess. Speed gallery is good.. they have been great to me... Evoms ,FVD, PSI, and Protomotive... each one has its advantages.. one has to really know who offers what and what you get for ur $$$. I now know, since I have been thru a long tuning road... My personal preference is Protomotive.
Ps. nothing to take away from others tuners... they all work hard .

Go straight to the stage 4.
I went with Imagineauto.com and have to say im still very happy with the service and the car.
The car has ran faultless and i tend to drive it flat out where ever i go.
Im still with the stock clutch but since the upgrade i havent done any standing starts and 5,000 miles later and it still feels fine.
