Default Boost hoses/clamps on 2001 996TT

Sharkman mentioned in another thread that specifically on
2001 996TT's the boost hoses are the "older style" and in
2002 on this was upgraded/improved by Porsche somehow.

Can anybody elaborate on the differences ???

Thank you in advance.
(I already bought the Bailey diverter valves)

The ends are stamped edges verses a molded edge. So the step that is held in place with the ring will wear and push down allowing the hose to pop out. The new ones are solid, but still have a weak edge.

My suggestion is upgrade the hoses. The ends are billet so you will not have this issue. Also the F hose will split at some point. The hose kit includes a new version that will not.

If it does pop out just shove it back in. The car will stop running.

Is there a hose "upgrade" kit to replace the majority of weaker or poorly designed hoses??

Hi Tom,

Absolutely... stephen and I BOTH use the same boost hose kit. Check out this post and you'll see why:

Sounds good Tom! JUst drop me an Email to alex@sharkwerks.com today and I'll send you a set out.. Red or black?

I think for the track guys that push the car hard and under heavy boost loads continually it makes sense as "insurance". It's a real pain when the one "inside" the bumper comes out and you can't even see it....

This was the first problem I had on my '01 in......'01. They replaced the hose and a couple of vacuum lines as I recall? I have the receipt somewhere, it was done under warranty. Thanks to Arling I have a set of the silicone hoses on now, in basic black. I can wear anything with them, khaki looks nice.....

Sounds good Tom... We charge 3-4 hours to do it. You have to take the bumper off on the lift and drop the engine a couple of inches to change the F-hose. It's not a "huge" job

PS I wish they made yellow We talked about it!

You can do the hoses without dropping the bumper. Don't be a wimp!

Hehe you are right.. you can I just having the extra room to squeeze that one through the hole on the drivers side Now James is a different story.. he does things faster than me You and him would kick my butt! He keeps calling me "office boy" too dammit....

Then again we're talking about dealers that charge 8 hours to do plugs! Buggers!
