Question Tech info needed???

Hey guys! Twas wonder for a normal 996 TT STOCK with 420BHP or X50 or (S) with 444BHP...are those horses TO THE TIRES or to the flywheels?

And if so...HOW MUCH power are we 996 Turborites REALLY getting to the tires? And what is the flywheel to wheel power loss rate? I hear 20-25%...meaning that if I see 515 at my wheels, I'm making 608 or something at my flywheels?

And finally... Z06s and Vipers are claiming 500 BHP... IS THAT what they are really making to the wheels?

Please enlighten me

They measure to the flywheel... I don't know of any stock auto that quotes WheelHP..... Just remember the new Z06 is much lighter than our cars also...

Manufacturers state engine power to the flywheel, this includes Porsche, Chevrolet and pretty much everything on the road.

A small point, but the stock Turbo has 415 hp SAE at the flywheel.

The loss between the flywheel and the wheels depends on how many wheels are being driven, and it's really an approximation. For a RWD dyno it's probably between 12-18%. On an AWD dyno it's probably 18-25%

Default 415 to the flywheel == 335 to the wheels (approx)

On a MAHA dyno, the loss was approx. 81 HP (on 996TT all-wheel drive)
415-81 = 334 to the wheels.

On a Mustang Dyno (one of the many), it showed 335 HP to the wheels

Surprisingly close calculations i would say.
