Living in Germany or going on vacation there and doing a couple of WOT topgear runs are two different kettle of fish, your post suggest you were the vacationer because I have never seen a IA/EVO stage 69 with the NASA airbox there, never seen those 900-1000whp US tuning wonders at the German Tuner Grand Prix or have never heard of a mere attempt to do a record lap at the Ring.

Knowing when , at what time and where is the key to extended WOT runs on the autobahn and you are clearly not in the knowing.

Another funny thing is that all those GIAC/EVO/IA cars are always very quick in the dyno wars (including constant assurance that they are the "BEST") but if one asks for some timed runs like 60-130, 60-150 , 60-to whatever then all over sudden we hear, it is winter, I am busy,my tires spin on the wheels, don't want to loose my license and the crown jewel of all , I don't have to proof anything because I built it for myself and I have the holy dyno sheets.

Now to the Porsche MD ,I have ( will) never made (make) any deragatory remarks about your abilities or credentials and you give good info to novices but man, are you ever getting tired of blowing your own horn 24/7 ? Does the word understatement exist for you ? Some of your post sound like Weisach calls you daily for advice.

I'd love to do some timed runs from 60-XXX, but the problem I have is... 1) finding a road that's flat, that... 2) doesn't have conflicting traffic, and ...3) has a low probability of having law enforcement show up.

Pole,
I appreciate your constructive criticism. I have not turned down the opportunity to help someone in need nor not given information when requested. I have always done this open and unselfishly with no expectation. This is just something I enjoy…helping other people. However I like many will support their particular belief when asked and base it on gathered data or experience to prove that belief. I will then base it on data if and when asked. I am not sure how standing up and supporting your stance and backing up that stance with data is arrogance?

If my tone has ever come out that way I am saddened and because most that truly know me know that I am not an egotistical maniac. This is often a trait that is an indication of lack of self confidence and general making up for something lacking in ones background. What I am is confident and proud. Certainly not to be confused with arrogance. If I have made it appear any other way I have done something seriously wrong and I offer my apologies. Post like this are the ones that actually worry me. Not the ones that question speed, performance, etc. Building an engine is not that hard in the scheme of things. It takes money to build something bigger, faster and yet their will always be someone better regardless of budget. Having integrity and accountability is something that is far greater to achieve and maintain. I have often said we have nothing if when have neither of these traits. I continue this teaching to my two boys. It is something that I honestly believe makes a difference.

I don’t have an AX22. If someone wants to send me theirs I will run the car and you can do what you wish with the numbers. I have pulled my car off for the winter to resparay the bumpers, change the carpet and add a tilton. These are not excuses. I started on this board over 11 years ago with a similar request to show up to a track and dyno day because something in my car was questioned. I drove to St Louis to do this with a guy who has become a friend for life, Michael Bene’t. I am certainly not afraid to make any run. So again, if someone sends it to me to use or has one locally in KC drop by or send it over. I will make it. I would offer to take a good old stop watch and GPS and time the runs if you would like. If this is good enough then please say so and I will do it tomorrow. I don’t care about loosing a license and I really don’t have anything to prove. No excuses. It simply has always been something fun to watch, but between yourself and one other individual requesting this of me I have to acknowledge the request. So if a timed run will be accepted with a stop watch please let me know I will pull the car out tomorrow and gladly put my Rover to rest for a few hours. I could also call a few customers and ask them to run some of these times in a L/W 930 EFI build if you would like. Just let me know what you guys want.

I hope that the lack of emotion in a keyboard is what had lead to your conclusion and you have a better understanding of my postings. I always offer to pick up the phone and drop me a call to chat. A few like LAT have done this and have found that I am an still an enthusiast who loves what they do and very thankful life has lead me down this path. I think that a search of my post will show I have never suggested I/We were the best and biggest. As mentioned up top this is a dangerous area to travel in. I contest I have the best job in the world playing with Porsches.

With 500+ real hp it takes less than a quarter of a mile to do a 60-130mph run. Mine took 350m/.22mile. Even 60-160mph takes less than half a mile

These AX22 devices are less tha $1000 US - It is puzzling to me why tuners are not clamouring to buy one. For the first time one can get these sort of numbers simply and reliably.

Is a low 60-160mph time not as sexy as an hp number

I am not exactly an impartial party when it comes to HP claims by the “Fantasia” EVOMS/GIAC duo. In fact, I am having my own little party on another forum with them right now.

While refreshing, because of the perspectives it brings, this debate is getting disturbing because of the slightly personal tint it is acquiring. Most of the involved parties are friends of mine, and maybe they don’t know how close they are to each other when it comes to personal ethics they share.

The HP frenzie that we are witnessing during this Fantasia era and the mogul marketing machine they put in place has literally destroyed the reputation of many of the “good” ones. It does not seem to stop, I wonder how far will they go. Believing the numbers that those “quickie” dyno runs show is just as serious as believing that you are the ‘Ring record breaker, because you did it at home on your PS2.

Fortunately for many of us, Stephen is genuine and he is always willing to stand by his claims, which is what he did just now. I attribute the difference in his numbers to what other top European tuners (and not referring to PSI here) read, to cultural differences and geographical reasons, and not to intentions to mislead, far from that.

What people like TB bring to the table with respect to the lack of “deep dive” engine building know-how, is his closeness to that different culture and access to first hand information from the best in the world, that makes many of us jealous. It also happens that that different culture he has access to, is one that the manufacturers of our cars share, as do some of those lucky tuners who are based in their German backyard.

It is a matter of bringing both cultures a notch closer to each other, and to do that, people need to be willing to accept that they do not necessarily hold the truth if it exists at all, but maybe someone else is a step closer to it.

Timing acceleration runs is only getting us a step closer to polish those cultural barriers, but one should be willing to listen and have an open mind once the results are out, regardless of who is “the winner”. In this case the only winner will be the enthusiasts like us, to the detriment of some tuners probably.

Happy New Year friends and may 2006 see Fantasia brake 2000RWHP!

I've looked for places around here where the traffic will allow a 60-130 run, and the times I've found the room the road hasn't been flat.

Pole Position.. I've entered my car into two shoot outs and done countless 1/4 mile tess (mid 10s at 135 etc...) and also Jean did extrapolate some 60-130 runs. Also the "wheels spinning inside the tires" thing was from PSI who is from Europe Actually I'm from England...

I thought it was CJV's mythical monster that busted wheels and spun tires on the rims?

I've never seen PorschePHD 'blow his own horn'. The only time he posts
something about himself has been to establish specific credibility for a
technical point he's making. Other tuners do this too, and *should*. As
a consumer and learner, this sort of info helps me greatly.
