Default Having engine/thottle problem...

Just wondoring if anyone has had this problem:

When I put the pedal to the floor the car is not accelerating normally. Havn't noticed it in first gear but in the other gears it will accelerate normally until the point where the turbos are fully spooled. When the turbos are spooled at WOT the power delivery is less than normal but if I let off the throttle a little (maybe 1/3 from WOT) it will surge into full power like it normally feels. The power actually drops off a little when the turbos kick in.

The car has 25k miles and I bet the plugs have never been changed. Also, I started noticing the problem when the outside temp dropped last month.

I'm gonna bring it in but I'd really appreciate any advice you guys could offer before I'm at the mercy of the Porsche service dept.

TIA

Matt

Are you having any soft missing at WOT?

How would I know? The power delivery is slightly erratic at WOT like the car is struggling to break free.

If you're wondering about plugs a good way to test for 'em is to put the car in 3rd gear. Drop the speed down and the revs to 1600 or so and in the 3rd gear at low speeds do a full 3rd gear pull. If it starts hesitating around 4.5K rpms then you need plug

Sounds like plugs or a dirty fuel filter.

Did some more driving today to try nail down the circumstances regarding engine trouble.

Sharkster: It seemed to do ok when making a pull from low rpms and I found out that the trouble doesn't depend on WOT to occur. Instead it seems to happen when I hit the gas (50% to 100%) in 2nd or 3rd at about 4k to 4.5k rpms. The power starts out normal through the spool up and then drops off as soon as they are spun up -- the front of the car drops a little because of the decrease in acceleration.

Anyway, the check engine light came on for the first time today so I guess I will get it in for a diagnosis. I'm in Socal and I'll probably go to Pacific Porsche unless anyone has a better idea. Not really impressed with those guys but I'm not familiar with any of the other options in my area.

Thanks for the feedback...

Matt
