from my various fogged memories of browsing this board. Tuned 01's have this problem of misfiring. Upgrading to the 02 and up stock plug should do the trick.

01s came with BERU FR5s... in 02 Porsche moved to FR6s at least but we always replace them with Bosch FR6s. Common stuff...

I had same problem with original plugs, missing under hard acceleration. We took out
old 5 beru (stock 01 plugs) and put in new #6 plugs (what Porsche sells at the dealer
and it worked beautifully). When my technician plugged his scan tool into the computer
it showed 4 of the 6 cylinders misfiring, he then knew it had to be plugs!
I paid 4 hours labor + scanning == $405 labor
plugs @ porsche dealer cost $7.94 each (they did not have Bosch available)
BTW: My technician did not pull off rear bumber or any exhuast parts, I watched him!

I can't imagine how I'd get to the coils and plugs without taking the rear bumper/intercoolers/heat shields off. I think it's a royal PITA changing the plugs *with* those items removed.
