Have you considered the in-car B&M shifter? It's exactly the same shifter as the Porsche shifter - B&M builds both, and two shifters are exactly the same mechanically...the Porsche kit just costs more.

Either kit is an easy DIY installation.

The B&M shifter will not void your warranty.

The dealer charged me 1 hour labour for the factory unit I bought from Brandywine Porsche. They are selling it right now for 289.00.

get the under car kit and buy the Porsche kit, took them about 2 hours to install, they told me if there are transmission problems, the new format is the porsche rep comes down, he has had instances that that would not honour the warranty that people put the rgular B&M shifter, not even the under car mount, for me $200 extra is not worth the risk or headache....good luck.

I have heard people both at the track with our cars and on this forum that went to a Short shifter and did not like it and went back. I had one and stopped the install after hearing negatives about it. I would do it if the only change was the distance of the throw. However, sounds like makes shifting not as smooth??

Yes, it does take more force to make shifts, and is noisier. When I tried one in a Z06, I did not care for it either, so I never did it.

B+M ss manufactures the Porsche units they are the same. The stock unit feels as if your rowing a boat and very vague and sloppy in comparison to the B+M. I've had mine for some time now, I've had absolutely no problems what so ever. In fact once you get used to it, and drive a stock version you can't believe the difference!

Like any ss kit there is slightly more shift effort, but like with any shift pattern you have to learn not to rush or push your shifts, smoothness and timing is key to enjoying a nice ss.

There's no way I'd let a Regional Service Rep. get away with denying warranty work on my car because of the B&M shifter.

B&M makes the Porsche short shifter, and it's exactly the same unit - mechanically - as the shifter B&M sells to the public. Let the Rep talk his way around that.

The argument of warranty denial is that if you had done the install yourself all coverage is null. If the dealer had done the install most likely they would stand behind the work.

I didn't like the OEM shifter at all - way too sloppy, with long throws. The B&M shifter shifts like a sports car *should shift* - it's like bolting a rifle. I can't imagine driving the car without it.
