I had the Porsche dealer install my B&M under car SS kit. Have not had a single problem and no warranty issues. I did not want to even drive the car before this mod was done. Must have option/mod for me. Mine is not the Porsche kit but both are made by B&M.

yep the b&m is a little notchie at first but smooths out over time look at the crap the stock shifter is made of
and you will want a b&m..... as last post porsche replaced my trans after i installed the b&m never a bad word......(poping out of 2nd gear before i installed the b&m) if you live in fear of what might happen to your car you will enjoy it's true potental

I had the dealer put in the OEM Porsche SS Kit...I love it, much tighter, and to me, the old stock setup now feels like "buttery-slop"

I've had the B&M SSK for some time. I actually do not (and did not) feel any notchiness (Not sure that is a word). Way better than the stock shift. No warranty issues what so ever (this seems to be dealer dependent).

I got the oem from braman porsche, 35 min install, a well trained monkey could do it. Interestingly, I had the BM initially, then changed out to the oem(warranty worries). They are exactly the same, one is blue, the other black. The shifting is much cleaner, I love it on the track, go for it!

I know this may flair a couple tempers, but my regional rep stated emphatically that B&M does not, nor never has, manufactured any tequipment parts for Porsche. I would be interested to see any documentation from B&M or Porsche stating that B&M is indeed the supplier. It's tossed around so much as fact amongst these message boards, but no one has ever shown proof for the B&M arguement. I've seen the pics, they do look similar, but who's got something solid. Porsche is denying warranty claims left and right on transmissions with aftermarket "shift enhancement/shortening devices".

A B&M rep told me on the phone, about a year ago, that they supply Porsche. They even stated it in their catalog. He also told me that if an undercar shifter is blue or black, it is B&M. Their undercar shifters are relabeled by several tuners.

Earlier this year I called B&M and talked to one of their engineers. He said B&M makes the short shifters for Porsche, and that they are *exactly* the same mechanically.

LOL, from my personal experience most SA and reps are not in the loop of info. that's what's great about most of the better forums, the vast connections of info are first hand and we are usually one of the first "in the know". most of the time SA and reps are some of the last to get info.

Guys>>>>>>>>>>>>> When your tranny brakes with your B&M SS, replace the shifter with the OEM shifter and THEN take it in to the Porsche dealer for your new tranny!!!! It`s a no-brainer

The OEM shifter can not be reinstalled.

I'd have *no* problem taking my B&M equipped Turbo to the dealer for a transmission problem.

On a related topic:
does the "Evo shiftlink" billet shifter linkage replace the "plastic part that breaks on people"?

does this B&M or OEM short shift kit include the billet shifter linkage ??

please clarify, thanks,
mk

when you take out the OEM shifter, you must break off the plastic bushings that hold the oem shifter in place

Because you have to destroy the OEM plastic bushings to remove them. They are replaced with B&M's aluminum bushings.
