Default Pic: Mashaw GT2 Wing for TT

Just got finished installing the MA Shaw GT2 TT wing. I ordered the wing and asked for Mike to have it painted. It came out perfect!!!!! The paint matches and the spoiler looks OEM. Installing the wing was a bit of an adverture. No store in Pittsburgh stocked the correct size allen key to take off the inner bolts from the stock wing. I ended up using a ratchet extention and grinding it into the correct shape to fit the bolts. After a lot of trial and error I finally got the bolts off. After the bolts came off I just popped the spoiler on and using the c shaped tool Mashaw provies atached the wing to the poles. I am pretty happy with how it looks but I am concerned about what is going to happen when I pass 130mph or 140mph. God I hope this thing does not rip off! Anyway here are some pics:

P.S. I know I need to do wheels next. Is there anyone on this board who can recommend a dealer for a set of Techart Formula's? Anyone have a set for sale? I am looking for the silver version.

$2100 altogether. Just make sure you have a 14 mm allen wrench BEFORE you get it. I almost went insane that i could not find one and i had this cool new toy i could not install until i made one myself.

I know Mike Shaw personally, I believe he is interested in quality and making sure the customer gets a good product. I haven't bought anything from him yet myself, but I like his attitude. He does support Porsche Club. Anyway thought I'd toss that personal opinion in.

Struggling with the 14mm allen key thing right now. 1 Bumperplugs carbon wing waiting to be installed. Not a 14mm key to be found...

If you are impatient like me your best bet is to make one. I forget which size ratchet extention I used but just find one slightly bigger than 14mm. The extention will be four sided. Using a grinder start by flattening one corner and then start checking it against the bolt. Eventually (maybe 10 minutes) you will be able to fit the new piece in the hole. They must use the strongest locktite ever since it takes a lot of force to get the bolt moving. If you can stand to wait then just order it from toolking.com.

plessdude, how much force. I am putting my full force against it and getting nowhere. Is it the whole visible metal fitting that comes out or a sleeve (the smaller diameter ring) within a bigger ring?

Thanks. I don't want to rip the whole fitting out of the old wing if I can avoid it.

Does this wing still use the hydraulic lifts or is it in fixed position?

You are correct in that the GT2 wing is fixed. However, this wing uses the factory hydraulics. So it's not a true GT2 wing.....more of a GT2 inspired wing.

So it still raises like the OEM. Are the photos shown with it in the raised or lowered positions?
