Default Pagid pads wont fit with shims in place

Just fitted new pagid pads to the front of my 04 tt (tight fit), but the rears wont go in with the shims in place. Will it be ok to track the car without the shims then refit them once the pads have worn abit?
Thanks

You need to break them in and wear them a little, then you can place the shims in or just leave them out.

I never use the shims when I switch to track pads before each DE. They are there to reduce squeeks and vibration, not essential to brake operation.

You can leave the anti-squeal shims out. After a few days of tracking reinstall if you wish. They do reduce squeal quite a bit. Are these Pagid RS19 Yellow by any chance? They are endurance racing pads and are a bit thicker than street pads. I had the same problem on my GT3.

Are you saying that with the shim already in position.......that you are unable to slide the pad in (and the caliper is fully open)?

GreggT,
Yeah with the shim in the pads wont go in.Like Bob said the pagid pads seem to come thicker than the std porsche product.

OK......just wanted to be clear you were not trying to fit them both in together at once (shim & pad)......personally I've never had a problem (on the 996turbo or 993) of putting Pagid Orange (44s) but I have yet to try Yellows.....they may be a tad thicker.
