Default Videos: Loudest 996 TT Exhaust

Ever wondered what a TT with 5 inch straight pipes and cats sounds like? Well I did find a couple of videos from last year (December I think?) when I was running low boost at the drag strip. We never planned on making these, it was just James' idea for my car and then for James' GT2. It's a PIA to do and means hacking up a stock exhaust but at least I got to play with a plasma cutter

Right click and save as:

First video is at idle with some reving and flames. Oh and at 165mph...

http://www.mangogrits.com/akula/vids/straightpipes.wmv

Second one is what it sounds like in the 1/4mile. To give you an idea it stays almost as loud at the end of the track

http://www.mangogrits.com/akula/vids/another11.wmv

Yes it shoots flames.... Don't ask it it resonates either

I have the FabSpeed straight but mine ain't that big.

The resonance is so bad I think it might be bad for my hearing. When I get my car back I'm going to do some db measurements.

I had those too pal... They are loud but they've got 100 cell cats. These are 5 inch and have no cats so it's even worse!!!!

These officially win the Resonance-Award:P

No kidding man... I think I'll tone it down soon. How about a nice stock exhaust lol?

Putting that dyno in must be great for tuning but your eyes would start watering if you ever had my car on there lol. I had it on the dyno here one time and I couldn't tkae it... literally!

At least I have something to "Vroom" back with when those Chevelles or Novas with their open headers rev...

Not in our place. You see that fan? Try 45+MPH and evac fans in the ceiling. Code hit us very hard so we had to comply.

Yea, wasn't one of those things you really think of when you buy the dyno. Then you go..OH we need one of those. Then I got the idea of moving the fan and welding casters on it and building an extension cord for it so we can move it around for 930s. The plugs to build the damn thing were 500.00. Talk about never ending.

Thanks, it is a nice place to do work.

Friggin' heck! Well I know/remember how super-neat/tidy you are and like your stuff to be so I'm sure it is. Only seen pics and Kevin told Joan it was in a really nice part of town and a great looking location... Out here rent is close to 8K per month for absolutely nothing

I still love those 930s. I wish I'd gotten one as a daily d instead of my EVO....

Sell the EVO then. The 930 is a whole different world. You want the oh sh*% factor then that would be the ticket. They are reliable regardless of what the perception is.
