If you decide later to modify, you can easily modify the power and put the car on a diet and you got a serious track performer. It also comes down to preference, do you want N/A or F/I? Personally, I prefer turbos because of the massive amount of torque.

Nah, they're not even remotely close. I would've loved to have saved the money and bought the 997S instead of my Turbo S, but in comparison to the Turbo S, the 997S is a slow dog. Drive both extensively and you'll agree. The 997S is a great car and far more than most anybody could ever need, but the Turbo spanks it badly.

Default Just made the same decision

I went through the same process. I've owned a 944, 994T and 2 C4s. Picked up an 01 TT yesterday with 5200 miles and in perfect condition minus the 1st owner's depreciation. After a day of driving it, I know it was absolutely the right choice.

It didn't really take you a whole day did it?

If I may ask, what sort of hit did the first owner take? My point is that there is no gain in keeping the car pristine in a garage. AS

the only reason to get the 997s would be the warranty. i agree about the transmission-try at all costs to get a 6 speed. the turbo is an awd supercar-although the 997s is a great car, you can't compare it to the acceleration and handling of the turbo-it's like comparing a 545i to an m5, if the m5 had awd.

Cool

Well, it's true that it didn't actaully take a whole day, more like the 1st time I put my foot on the floor. It just got better over the course of the day.

I paid $83K. A 5yr/60K warranty cost an additional $2200.
