Default Front Bumper Lip Scratching: How Often?

Just curious. How often do you guys scratch your front bumper lip?
My car is daily driver and I scratch it once a week. Little guilty about this.

That does seem little abusive. Maybe that will happen to me if I drive CGT...

I take the car out most days -- it is very hard not to hit something!

Many driveways are just a little too angled for the lip - even more of a problem with two in the car.

I could never paint the lip in my car

I've probably scraped the front lip four times in the past three years (18k miles). I'm VERY careful.

What bumper & chin spoiler are you running with.........lowered or OE ride height?

No matter what the answers...it is a 'challenge'.........there are some simple techniques........but as msindi said......all it takes is one 'not paying attention'

Indeed - you will be painting and repainting it often.

But on the Black car, you could go with unpainted and be fine either way. Just lightly sand that plastic down every few months!

GreggT, my 996tt is completely stock with no special body options.

My scratch situation is often--I'm about to turn left into a complex (mall or kids' school), cars coming in the other direction would stop to let me go, then I make left in hurry to get myself out of the way, then scratch... Weird that headaches can arise for people trying to be nice.

Why feel guilty? It's non-structural, nearly invisible, easily repairable, and cheap by Porsche standards. Kind of like bugs on the window in the summer-inevitable. My advice is to enjoy the car, and give the next owner something to complain about when you sell it. AS

I have a steep driveway and and curb and have never hit bottom.
I do however ,when parking in a lot , seem to hit the concrete wheel stops
because I pull in too far.
In 4 months I've hit 3 or 4, with no discernable damage.

i'm glad the lip is easily replacable on these cars.

the 3 times that the lip/brake duct came off my boxster, they've given me a free replacement part, and free labour to replace it, and had me on my way in 15 minutes.
