noticing how everyone does some sort of engine mod on these forums ... technically i think everyone is already out of warranty

Nope. In the US, it is against the law for a manufacturer to void warranty based on mods. They'd have to prove that the failure was caused by the mods to refuse warranty work.

if you chip your engine, and you happen to blow it by accidentally going into 1st instead of 3rd on a downshift, wont the dealership just say that it was the fault of the chip, so they dont have to pay for fixing your car?

Ahhhhhhhh......no, I'm pretty sure that's your fault, and the chip wouldn't even have to be sited.

A missed shift, chipped car or not, is not covered under warranty anyway.
