Special 996TT @ Mugello Classic race
Hi folks,
a couple of weeks ago, I attended the Mugello Classic race in Italy. There were many interesting cars and the following one is pretty particular.
This 996TT was built around 2001 by two former Toyota F1 engineers (Vladimir Raikhlin and Norbert Kreyer, who also built the engines of the Porsche 935 beating Zakspeed Ford Turbo Capri). The car initially had a Holinger sequential gearbox, water / air intercoolers and a very special roller barrel induction, which it still maintains. Unfortunately, especially due to budget problems, the car was never really developped to its full potential. After a very meticolous rebuild, which includes a different gearbox, a completely new engine management system, Secan intercoolers and an engine dyno mapping by German engine guru, Reinhold Schmirler it pulls very hard now.

I'm not even sure what I'm seeing here. Are those canted intakes? With ITBS under the intakes on a slide throttle? There's alot of nice work in this car.

Everybody wants those 996 Motorsports headlights. That is what the street headlights would have looked like if it wasn't for the EU regulation mandating headlight washers. You used to be able to buy them but they became NLA a long time ago.
