I'm sure a good body shop could get them filled in nicely and painted no? To make them work do you need to drill into the existing door frame? Would love to see photos on non cup doors.
There is nothing to fill. They are made of super flimsy thin walled plastic. If you put pressure them they flex like crazy. You'll laugh when you actually see them.

No one is looking at your car and trying to find flaws. Is it still in pretty good shape?
Yeah, definitely. One of my favorite cars on the forum. I am a bit biased due to my Aerokit but it looks badass. I wish my driveway allowed me to keep running the correct front lip.
The RUF mirrors #R96 700 731 00 are awesome looking and so are the cup mirrors. I know 2-3 years ago there was some interest in the 996 RUF mirrors and they did another run of them that were numbered R96 700 731 00-1. But they have not made the RUF mirrors since sadly. I am not a fan of replica parts or styled parts usually. But since they are NLA and you can't get them, there is a company called Stuttgart Classica in the UK that makes almost identical mirrors to the RUF mirrors for $1,256, Sadly made of fiberglass, but is another alternative to the RUF mirrors. Hope this helps. https://www.stuttgart-classica.co.uk...rror-kit-l7g37

well theres a viable option. Thank you very much for sharing! Wonder if anybody has any experience with them on here
Surface finish on most prints are pretty bad. The laser sintered powder (SLS) plastic parts are more uniform but have a bumpy or mottled finish. Grainy, etc. I don't know how well they would hold up at speed.
As an update - I reached out to Stuttgart Classic USA to see if they can ship these to North America. It says they are only available for shipping to the UK. Will also ask if there are any more photos of the mirrors. They are definitely not cheap.

I have lots of their stuff on my classics. Everything has been amazing quality. They have USA operations now too. The guys that set it up are wonderful people! I ahve a ton of their stuff on my 1975 rat rod.

You must have emailed the UK site as the USA only ships to North America.
The genuine RUF ones are some type of a fiberglass composite mixture. Nothing fancy.
Powdrhound - Do you have any photos of them off the car from when you had a set? Curious how they bolt up and if they use any sort of weather gasket to stop water intrusion.

No. I looked through my old pics and these are the only ones left. The OEM mirror motors swap over to the RUF mirrors. The mirror housings attach via the OEM hardware if I recall. There is no modification of the door required. It's basically plug and play. The actually "mirror" portion is quite small (compared to OEM) and as such the outer portion of the RUF mirror (outside the vertical line) is convex to give the mirror a greater field of view. I don't know if the aftermarket Stuttgart mirror is done the same way, probably not.
