I think the 996 TT is exactly what Porsche aims for in a non-GT* sports car: perfectly happy to cruise along with music on, comfortable and not too loud; but it turns into an grin-inducing animal when you press on. I even like the sound, kind of sweet when cruising and becoming mechanical and snarling beyond 4k. Inside you mainly hear the intake and outside the turbos whistling. There's always that awesome Mezger throatiness to it though.

* As in, not a GT2 or GT3.
