It is if you want to pin the two by the oil cooler.

They can all be pinned with the engine in.

Sharkwerks recommends pinning over welding.

They may claim to do it, it doesn't mean they actually do it.

They are a very reputable shop and are outstanding mechanics. The risk they would be exposed to by claiming to perform work and not performing it would IMO be huge and something that would be completely out of character. .

I really don't care what their reputation is. I do not believe they are doing what they claim to be doing. They are either pulling the engine to get to those pipes near the cooler or they aren't pinning them.

The article shows the engine being dropped. Which is what SharkWerks always does.

Think what you want.

But it's quite something to claim they are lying.

From the SharkWerks article:

"Even if you're doing this with the engine IN the car..."

"Some people do this repair with the engine still installed in the car..."

No it isn't, especially when someone has personally done the work as I have. When did you do the work to pin or weld your pipes?

Who has done this work with the engine in?

There is one person noted above that neither I nor Bernard believe. Find others. Good luck because there aren't others. To pin those fittings you pull the engine.

That's on a 7GT3 Mezger. Not quite apples to apples. You will need to drop the engine to get to the upper two fittings on the 6TT Mezger. Even the tread you link above mentions that also.

Another solution if you have access to a good machine shop is to have the manifolds and fittings threaded and installed with sealant and a crush washer as is done on the RSR Mezgers.
