Default Starter missing/not engaging?

Anyone ever had any issues with the starter not engaging (or at least that's what it sounds like). Took some gas a few weeks ago, tried to start the car back up and seems like the starter was spinning freely and not starting the car. Turned off, back on and it started as normal. Seems odd; don't think it would be related to the battery since it's always on a tender and the car typically starts strong?

The bendix in the starter is going; the piece that controls the insertion of the starter teeth into the flywheel.

Thank you! Found the thread below after some digging as well. I'll just have it replaced on the next service. Only seems to be happening sporadically on a hot restart but I'd hate to get stuck somewhere.

$200-$300 for the Bosch one. Seems the way to go. OEM Porsche is a joke.
