They definitely work well when you have broken tabs on your lights. If you buy new ones, be really careful not to over-tighten them or you'll just crack a brand new set.

Interesting. Looks like on top of headlights, I'll need the cable loom (996 631 447 01 ) and bulbs!

i have that same crack on my driver side only... wonder why it only usually happens on one side...

That cracking is usually caused by exposure to the sun. The sun literally "bakes" the plastic. Maybe your car sat with that one side facing the sun more often than the other?
