Just about 3 years ago I remember reading Macster's list of suggestions. They were helpful, ended up picking up an 04tt from local dealer. The only issue I experienced shortly after purchasing (2 days later) was the rear spoiler pump blew its top, Switching to a tt was quite an eye-opener..

They can't be any more expensive to run than the C4S...no?
It's not actually that expensive to own so far. I should probably update that now that I've gotten the initial repairs taken care of (I bought a fixer upper).

Thoughts on something like this:
https://newyork.craigslist.org/brk/c...018622636.html

I'm not sure how relevant the miles are on these cars.

Mileage doesn't bother me as long as the car has been well maintained. I bought mine with 107K but it had over $10,000 of work at the Porsche dealer at 90K miles, addressing a few things that needed to be done. BTW - I picked it up $30k in very good condition, but it's a tip. (Which is fine by me.)

Porsche miles are more relevant than all but Ferrari/Lambo and can drastically up/lower value of the car.
I believe your question relates to the reliability however, in which case condition/upkeep/records are determining factors.
Do you want a Tip/Auto?
Does automatic car pricing go up a lot in the winter?
Dealer advertisement, records?
No records, no deal in my book unless I'm getting it <market average.
Keep in mind the asking vs.selling price disparity, I often forget it myself when I look at car pricing.

No problem. Good thing I'm never getting old! lol

Got my eye on this one. A little $$ but looks to be clean. Just wish it wasn't black on black (the most boring colors).:

if you plan on driving it, i'd get one with some more miles on it and save a few $k's... if it's the color that bothers you, could always get the car wrapped

I agree with the first part of this.

But if we're talking about a dream car or a car you plan to keep a long time, it's worth holding out for a color you like.

They're creeping up in value, and nice 6 speed coupes are getting harder to find, but they're still not super rare or super expensive, yet. And cab and/or Tip should make the search a little easier, as well. Don't settle on a color you don't like.

I had a gorgeous c4s with ims done and cargraphics exhaust. It sounded great, looked awesome with the red stripe between twilights. To me it lacked the scary feeling you get with turbos under full spool. So I got one. Raw compared to 997/991, reasonably priced enough that I drive whenever and wherever. I think 996tt is still the best value in super cars even after the price creep. Good luck in your search.

Had an 02 C4S. Lost the engine to IMS bearing failure. Replaced under warranty.😳😳 and sold shortly after.

I liked the car but frankly preferred my 95 993.

Bought the 996 TT after the c4s was sold and have not looked back. I love the power of the turbo and having tracked it just once, I’m amazed what this car’s capabilities are. This car will keep you out of trouble unless you drive it beyond the laws of physics. I have maintained mine to the nth degree and as a result, have had no major surprises and have not found it to be particularly expensive. The car is very reliable.

I’m now hankering after a convertible and am probably going to replace the 996TT with a 997.1TT. I refuse to give up the Mezger engine so no 997.2 for me.

You will not regret moving to the 996TT for one instant.
