Are 6speeds not in your sight? Or do you want a tippy?

From what i know in aus is that older cars that look fast and are fast demand a high premium because they can be modded and no one would be the wiser.
Coppers dont look around for fast porsches. They look for fast and loud vw/ japanese/ audis. When i was in southport a buddy had a 2j swapped camry that literally just had an engine swapped and catback. He would always get stopped by coppers and be inspected with no violations.
The 997 he had though had loud pipes intake stuff to make it as loud as he could and never got inspected.

Find another 996t!

You are probably right, I had a look on car sales au and the tiptronic ones are well above the the prices of the 6 speed ones here!

To be honest i wasnt even looking for a 996t, this one just came up in my price range and I thought what the hell! Ive also been looking to get into something more desirable here in nz and rhd for a while. I wouldn't be able to afford a 6 speed and for what I'd use the car for a tiptronic would be perfect.

Haha 2j Camry I love it!
Totally agree, all of my really nicely done cars have gotten no attention whatsoever!

NA 964s are trendy right now but form a driving experience perspective they not in the same league as a 996TT. I would take 996TT over a NA 964 in heart beat.

The rust inside the wheels is probably from the rotors. They fill with water when you wash them and it slings rusty water out when you drive to dry them out.
The radio may be from disconnecting the battery and not entering the radio code. 2002 on the code is embedded in the ECU or immobilizer.

Thanks for the input, it was raining pretty hard when I looked at the car but I did run my finger over the rust in the wheels and it did feel like it was just on the surface so hopefully you are correct.

It does have a new battery and they got a battery drain fixed so hopefully that's all it is. If it is faulty can you get them reconditioned or something?

The speedometers on nearly every 911 I have owned have been off. Always indicating about 5 kph faster than actual speed.
I was actually thinking it could be just low on fluid or something.

Yes I've been doing some research and seen that alot of people say their speedo is 5km out!

Well the dealers have been kind enough to give me the car for a few days! So in this time I'll work out exactly what the car needs and go from there.

Not that wierd to be missing. Is the amp still there? That's the tuff one.

also, you seem to be selling the car to yourself. bringing it home etc etc. trust the forum, do not buy a car that you will regret. once the excitement wears off, you will be left with a 15K fix up project.

I'll get back to you on that one.

I know what you mean, I could be trying to convince myself. I'm pretty sure the cars price reflects the issues so it's still worth while for me.

I couldn't afford a well sorted one but could afford this one to slowly fix over the next few years if that makes sense.

I do really appreciate everyone's input, just wanto gather as much knowledge as I can.

Mate just wait im telling you.
My 01 had loads of problems
Paid around 30k for it
I could have saved money going to an indy first but took the dealer hit.
A little over 10k in fixes.
Plus an additional 5k since then and this was march 2018. And mine is a manual.

Find another car dude.
The dealer ia baiting you hardcore no joke mate.

+1 on waiting for a better example

I believe these cars are appreciating and worth every penny, but that is still too much $ for a high mile Tiptronic with issues. Those aren't that hard to find.

Hi guys, car is still in my posession, getting a ppi done. The surging under load seems to be something to do with the throttle body rather than the transmission.
Not sure if I've mentioned this before but the car seems to be priced about 20k below others for sale here, I wouldn't be able to afford 20k more so it's just a good opportunity for me to get into a car I wouldn't usually be able to afford and slowly tidy it up.
