Default 100 miles and running...

Then, this happened.

Has anyone had this type of failure with the falkens? Caught it immediately, so no rim damage.

Good thing I brought the spare...

Have you found a replacement tire?

Not yet, just got home ten minutes ago... I'll be taking to my tyre guy tomorrow, fortunately when it popped, I was able to stop almost immediately so there is no rim damage....

If you had a leak, it could have done this if it was significantly under inflated with lots of negative camber.

A 'pop' was heard by co pilot, and then I noticed the car skew, so although I didn't hear the pop, I knew I lost a tire.

Check your inner fender liner to see if there was any rubbing. Most likely bottom rear of fender liner.

you have pictures of the uncut side, is there a ring or 'score' line that indicates possible rubbing?

I would think if it was rubbing it would be a cleaner split, not like shown..

I would have flat bedded it home, or at least put a towel or something under the tire (that picture of the dirty ripped tire on the rear seat doesn't look good).
Well you got to test the spare at least...good luck getting it back in the frunk
Was this on the way to your road trip?
hope all works out ok.

Ouch. Looks like an rt-615K. Never saw one fail like that. I run close to the max pressures, 40 front - cold, 44 rear- cold. Looks like they may have been driven on underinflated. Good luck!

Fastest tire change in history - a fellow who I was running with did me the kindness of turning around and placing his Range Rover in the way off the lane so the traffic that came barreling down the hill moved into the outside lane.

My plan with the collapsible is to remove the valve stem, deflate the tyre, then use a ratchet strap around the circumference to get it back to storage size, then replace the valve stem - seems like the best way to me...

The failure occurred within 100 miles of home; the final leg...

Went pop, squirmed a little and I pulled over immediately, thus no rim damage - looking for warranty now...

I had the same thing happen ....twice!
No problem deflating the spare just by holding the stem in.
