996TT interior vs 997
So, fairly new to ownership and I am wondering if I am alone in this, but I purposely chose the 996TT over a 997TT partly due to the interior. I wanted an old school feel and got tired of the 997 interior from owning an 07 Cayman for 8 years. The antiquated navigation system and the aluminum spray painted silver trim grew old to me. I remember when I purchased the Cayman I thought: how modern. The 996 for all of its outdated interior in my opinion is great in it’s simplicity. Not quite as old school as a 993, but suits the car just fine. Tech is so abundant nowadays, it’s very cool to drive a car that is so tech independent. Who likes the 997 interior better and why?

Preaching to the choir sir. I personally love the interior of the 996. Simpler the better for me. I replaced the lower console with the gt3 delete and removed the radio since I only use my AirPods for calls and music anyways. Totally spartan.

I love the 996TT interior, especially those with a contrasting trim kit and carpet or floor mats. The design matches the organic flowing feel of the exterior perfectly.
I have mentioned to my wife a few times that we will be trading in the 996TT for a 991.2 pretty soon and she keep asking why. She strongly feels the 996TT is the prettiest Porsche, both inside and out, we have ever owned and she has ever seen.

Having both, I naturally feel more at home in the 996tt interior over the 997. Dont get me wrong, I still love the 997 but find the ergonomics of the 996 with the center mounted windows much nicer.

A minty 996 turbo interior in black, full leather, no wood or carbon, perhaps a bit of alum trim, minimal wear, no sticky *****, no key/ring/watch scratches all over, fresh mats, etc. looks GREAT!
Definitely is starting to have a classic if not vintage vibe and is just right for me.

My favorite part is the Pong navigation graphics and the Ohio CD map that came with the car for my northeast driving! In all seriousness, having owned both 991 and 997 Turbos, I love simple and smaller feel of the 996 interior. Only thing I don't like is the glued on cover piece that goes over the fake glove compartment area if it had one. I do miss the red painted seat backs I had in my 997 though.

Personally, I prefer analog cars and the 996 definitely is that...simple and comfortable. I will say, however, that the 996 seats are terrible and outdated in a bad way. Some 997 sport or gt3 seats can really help modernize the look of the interior and also are much more comfortable and supportive.
