Default Gas lid lock stuck

Anyone have this happen and know a fix other than just lubing it up?
Went to fill up after sitting for a couple months and the gas door was stuck with the lock pin not retracting.
I'm going with the idea it will fix itself before next station visit if it knows what's good for it.

it may or may not work intermittently. but at some point ( now? ) you'll need to r&r the latch mechanism https://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin...fuel%2520latch

Thanks for the link, will be a good time to install a new vent tube I've had laying around for a while now.

The pin is a little stiff from not being used ... If you push slightly inward on the fuel door and then get someone to release it , normally this is enough to take the tension of the pin thus allowing it to retract .... Then give it some lube or with the door open work the mech a bit to get it moving again.

you're welcome. i had to r&r mine a year ago. then the fuel vent filler line this year. seems like i've replaced every minor thing ya never really think about, at least once. gl with it.

add: btw read here you picked up a 991s ..THE perfect DD. congrats. i almost did the same but i realized i'd be eating 3 cheeseburgers a day to fit it into the budget and occasio cortez told me i shouldn't do that. enjoy it.

great choice.

same DIY as the 996 carerra and located area of the fuel vent filler etc. you'll also be able to access the "pull cord" from behind the liner to open it if the relay is in fact dead

Another well thought out placement like the one behind taillight, haha.
Front one is the only reasonable accessible one

For me, locking and unlocking the car has always released a stuck fuel door pin. It is possible to 'encourage' the pin to retract using a house key, but not recommended.

that also worked for me ( lock/unlock ) but again, only intermittently. i find these small relays tend to give warning signs, then finally "go" as did my fuel vent filler a month ago.

Mine appears to have fixed itself, I'll chalk it up to not using it for too long.
If it sticks again after a little lube I'll replace the parts.
