Default Bluetooth

I am sure this has been asked before but wondering what everyone is using in their vehicles for audio? I just purchased my turbo a week ago and the stock CD player is functional, but I can’t stream Bluetooth so that sorta sucks. Anyone using a good headset or an aftermarket stereo?

I personally hate aftermarket stereos because they all seem to be stuck in the 90’s and early 2000’s in terms of esthetics. The new Porsche classic single din stereo looks clean but seems overpriced and does not play cds but that would be okay. Anyone use that?

I put in a Sony XAV-AX1000 Carplay unit... Inexpensive (under $300), streaming audio, streaming bluetooth, full phone calling integration, music, navigation tied to phone apps but displayed on sony screen (waze, google maps, apple maps), decent sound, etc.

More functionality than pretty much anything Porsche delivered pre-2017. Crappy picture, but it looks very integrated when you are in the car.

I installed a Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS. Downloaded a Porsche logo for the screen background and everyone thinks it's a stock unit. Awesome bluetooth phone and more

I use a 12v Bluetooth to radio cig lighter unit its 15$ on Amazon. Only thing is you have to remember to pull it out of her otherwise it will leech energy.

I like the idea of using the cigarette lighter, but will drawing power from a usb for something like a qi charger potentially harm the battery since it is "always on"?. Is there a switch of the fuse that can be done to only allow it to draw power when the ignition is on?

If you're pre-03 and only care about music streaming (and not phone calls) Becker themselves makes a retrofit kit for the CDR-220: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-02-Por...ARs:rk:19:pf:0

Just FYI, I believe those are made and sold by "Becker Auto Sound", a reseller and repair company, not the Becker company itself. Also, I think they are mono only?

Alpine ILX-107 wireless CarPlay is my current setup. I put Alpine ILX-007 (the predecessor without wireless CarPlay) in my 986S before.

What did you guys pay for such a system? I have been quoted $2100 for a new amp (a must apparently), a kenwood head unit, back up camera and all new wiring (they said the stock fiber optics are not compatible?). Does this sound fair? Labor is about $1100 at $90 and hour. Thanks for the info

$3,300?? Find a different shop...

A sony carplay headunit is ~$300, more stereo than most will ever need. Compatible with backup cameras available for under $50. All the fit-kit pieces are less than $50. You can interface to non MOST (fiber optic) /Bose systems directly and MOST/Bose systems with a $100 adapter. No, you don't need to replace the amp.

There's nothing hard about the job, but I can't imagine a reputable shop charging more than four hours to install the above.

I DIY installed, and I didn't have MOST, so it was fairly easy. I've done other installs on 9x6 as well. There's a MOST adapter on aliexpress which is very affordable (sub $90) which lets you do the install without having to install new amp or wiring. That sounds like the shop is either not knowledgable about a MOST adapter that's affordable or they're trying to get you for a big job.

Great input. Sorry if I was unclear. The total is $2100, including the labor. I am sure they did not know about the MOST adapter. I do have the MOST/Bose system. This forum is great. Thanks again.

This amplifier av adapter on Aliexpress states it is not compatible with the 911 2003 model. Really? Does anyone else have a solution or a way around this?
