Default Time for new tires, recommendations?

Ok, have a new to me set of 18" bbs wheels coming to me. Have to make a tire decision.

Option #1.

Reuse the tires I currently have, which are stock sized htrz3's. Maybe 4000 miles on them but they're 7 years old.

Option #2.

Stock sized new tires. Choices are Michelin PS2, Potenza S02A or Yokohama AD08R

Option #3

245/315 sized tires. Only street tire option in that size are the Falken Azenis 615k+

Thoughts?

Or are the sizes 235/315 vs 245/315?

You can also get PS2s in 245/315. Those 245s are little big though, 25.7" tall.

I have the AD08Rs. Great tire, but loud after half life.

I'm most likely going with the Falken RTK 615+s soon.

The Falken 235 and 245 will work up front as they are both taller than the 315s.

There are tons of recent threads on this topic.

Buying tires is like buying shoes. What are you going to use them for? How frequent? How fit are you? Are you a track star? Go on backroads or trails? Is it for daily walking? Are you budget minded? How often do you like to change shoes?

Drive your tires for 1/4 to 1/3 life and sell them is another option.

i'd get all new tires and without knowing what offsets? i sure wouldn't put on 7 year old tires that had 4k miles? i only get 5k miles out of rears anyway..

assuming you went gt2 sizes, i'd stick with 235/40 X 315/30. also, the falkens have exceeded my expectations for this car as i swore i'd never try falken again after a disastrous "experiment" with them in 1996.

falken's have significantly improved in over 20 years lol. i run them in rear only as i prefer the michi ps3 in front. im RWD so mismatching is not an issue. new tires to go with new wheels. way to go.

Street use and some autox. I have track wheels/tires I use there.

Drive maybe 3-4000 miles a year.

You never told us the specs of the new wheels. What are they?

Based on your light usage, I’d lean toward the Yoko or Faulken. S02A is not worth the $. Yoko is a good compromise for mostly streets/hills with occasional autox.

I have tried them all and here are my top two.

1. Michelins PS2 are hands down the best tire for our cars
2. Falken RT615+ are amazing in every way

The PS2 in the 245/40-18 is hard to source... Tire Rack is OOS. You might be able to scare up a pair but I wouldn't count on it. On-site tires said there were a few pairs left in the country that he could get, but that was maybe six months ago, and I don't think they are still in production?

It's also a "BMW Star" tire, not sure how much that differs from the standard PS2 rear.

You know my choice... The Azenis! I've only had a chance to run them on some canyon roads due to the season, but so far pleased. Can't beat the price either.

for a street tire - hard to beat the Michelins - but the PS2's are old tech - get greasy quickly on the track

I have the 245/315 version on E88's

When I put in the 245/315 sizes on Tire Racks website the only tire choice was the Azenis.

I think I'm just going to order them. It'll let me be lazy and not have to swap wheels/tires when I autox

I run MPSS in 245/315 on my e88s for extended street use.
Otherwise, same size NT-01 is great unless they are past half used and the road is wet/standing water.
