Default Lol... I joined the club too

Man I was driving into work today and I was actually thinking about the "joined the club" thread on here and wondering when my coolant pipes would give... not kidding within 30 seconds the low coolant light came on. Car never got hot. Pulled over and opened the hood and there was coolant/steam everywhere. Going to trailer it home and take a closer look later today. Might be a good excuse to finally buy that lift I've been eyeballing so I can drop the engine easier. I've never dropped the engine on the 996, but I've done a couple engine swaps on other cars (a Land Rover Defender 110 and a Civic B16 swap). I'm sure the 996 will be a lot more complicated but I might give it a try...
We'll see what we see when I get into it later this week.

Mileage? Track use? I am developing a paranoia @ 57,000 miles but am wanting to wait until 60,000 for an engine out service, pinning, etc.

You guys are killing me with this rash of failures. I hope it's just the water pump!

Mine pump just failed but it gave warning with noise and higher op temps. It never lost coolant.

Good luck.. wait I need the luck! 156k Miles !

Proper B16A1 swap? Must have been fun...

My engine is coming out next month for pinning.

Mine went at 108K. Someone should start a thread with a poll asking mileage and prior track use...

False alarm. It was the water pump.

whew. weird that you had no early indication? mine sounded like a thrown rod, and never fully 'went".
i self diagnosed and bought a 236$ pierburg. make sure you get the composite one and not one with the metal impeller.

I always thought you wanted the pump with the metal impeller.

Yeah looking back I had a warning... sounded like some rattling going on but I thought it was my LWFW acting weird in the cold we're having right now. It all makes sense now.

no. if it implodes, you'll have metal bits throughout the system. better, composite material, if it implodes.

when mine was first on its "way out"? i was at a stoplight next to a cummins diesel pickup. the pickup drove off, the sound remained lol.

i didn't "wait" to order a new one.

Weird, I have heard that the medal doesn't implode.
