Shop over filled oil significantly- What needs to be addressed?

+1 on Blackstone.. they provide a very detailed report comparing 996tt engine wear on multiple properties, all for only $28.
While the oil may be new, if there is damage e.g. abnormal valve wear, oil starvation from oil foaming (caused from too much oil), crankshaft wear can occur. The sample could be useful, I would say it's money well spent.

I’ve read many other tails of shops draining transmission fluid instead of oil... is there any possibility the shop drained the wrong fluid and then double filled the oil?
Id double check all fluids if it were mine.

They said nothing to me about it.
I picked up the car late PM. Was stopped by the Police in less than .5 miles due to the heavy smoking in my town.

The part that upsets me the most is the shop wittnessed the massive billowing smoke when the started the car & pulled it out of the shop to the pick up lot after the service..

Anyway I guy I know took his 997 turbo to one of the best known Porsche Indy in Toronto area (very respected especially in the air cooled cars) and they overfilled the oil and the engine was toast and the car was written off as a result by the shops insurance company. The shop said it was a new mechanic at their shop. All the more reason they should have watched him carefully.
I hope this is not the case with your car but I would be very careful how you proceed. Hopefully it is fine but not sure if I would always be worried about something showing up later on as a result of this. Good luck I am hoping for the best result for you.

Update:
Shop drained over filled contaminated oil completely & performed fresh oil change.
Removed intake/airbox & cleaned.
Cleaned all sensors with MAF cleaner.
Removed lower turbo boost hoses & drained oil & cleaned
Cleaned oil from lower intercooler end tanks.
Replaced spark plugs
Inspected 02 sensors( deemed to be ok)? How is that?
Degreased bottom of engine
Oil air separator & PVC units were not replaced.
Cobb AP Lamda readings are 14.45-75 both banks now (Good)
Motor does not smoke at all anymore even on 1st start up.
Miss- fire is cured.
Motor sounds really smooth & strong. Lots of pull. (Its a heavy modded EVOMS set up)
Nasty exhaust stink is gone.
Ill still send 3oz oil sample to BlackStone labs for testing though.
Keeping my fingers crossed the motor is fine.
Thxs

To start the turbos need to be removed and all residual oil needs to be drained and cleaned out. All induction hoses need to be removed and cleaned! The MAF needs to be removed and cleaned or replaced. Plugs probably neevto be removed and replaced.
Too late you got it resolved! Should have read further!

Whew, glad it sounds like everything is OK! What a nightmare. I'm definitely sticking to DIY oil changes after reading a couple other stories like this one.

I had the same issue and my 996tt has oil overfilled, but I drove it for six month or more , I thought the extra oil will burn out while driving , suddenly the car has no power (turbo0.4 as max, rpm5000 as max) , smell of burning oil and heat in the car, oil still drops from exhaust and smoke comes from the turbo sides, yesterday check engine light Come out , am really starting to think about serious things happen to engine, I call Porsche centre and had a service booking , any suggestion of how bad is the engine situation ?
