Actually Doc, our dealer only requires a $500 deposit - I thought it was well worth it especially since I am going to get the car when I come out of my cab lease. My only question, regardless of when the next turbo is introduced, is whether the X50 performance package will be available in the first year of production.

Good question. I'd be inclined to put a grand down for the X50 package on the new 997 but not the car itself. Unless Porsche limits the number of cars produced like Farreri does. The risk of some of the options I'd like not being there at the beginning of production seems real.
