Thoughts on a Daily Driver?
Hi All,
Since we all seem to be of similar minds when it comes to our taste in Porsches, I figured maybe you all could help me with deciding on a new daily driver.
I'm a Realtor and a developer so having some space is always nice. My current daily is a 2016 X5 35 Diesel that I special ordered with DCCD and the M torque vectoring diff. Couple that with over 400lbs of tq and the car really isn't too bad around town - plus I've gotten as high as 50mpg on the highway - all in a ~6k lbs SUV. My wife drives a 2017 Volvo XC90 Inscription which has become the kid carrying car - our daughter rarely rides on my BMW.
Cars I've considered so far:
1. AMG E63s wagon - Seems like a blast, but can't find one to test.
2. Alfa Stelvio Quad - absolutely fantastic to drive! Interior quality was only so-so and I do like having ventilated seats which are not an option currently. The engine and suspension for an SUV are absolutely amazing though.
3. Range Rover Velar - I haven't driven it yet. The tech seems great, the engine options less so. I also feel like every big real estate agent drives a Range Rover....
4. Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo - I haven't driven one yet, it seems great on paper, but I'm not particularly excited to spend the price of the Turbo. Not sure if any of the lesser engines are that good or fun..
Anyone else have any interesting recommendations? Thoughts? Ideal would be to keep it under 100k..

Feel free to make fun of me, as it sounds like you are looking upmarket -- but I want the new Accord Sport 2.0L with a Reflash: https://www.hondata.com/flashpro-2018-accord
IMHO, they punch WAY above their weight.

Why not a Cayenne? Seems like the perfect choice for you. The Alfa will have reliability issues, the Velar looks great in pictures and then is tiny in person, and I think the other 2 choices might be a bit ostentatious.

I actually love Hondas. I get one for my mom every few years as it's the perfect daily driver in Chicago where she lives.
Unfortunately, in my line of work, I do need to go upscale for my daily driver.

In that case, +1 on the Cayenne (GTS ?!).

Cayenne could be good. Any idea when the new gen will be out?
If I went for an Audi it would probably be an S7/RS7 buuut still feel those get to be a bit overpriced..

You're a realtor, what do they "expect" you to drive. That sounds dumb. But my vote is for a 997 turbo tip. Or f10 m5. I just got a new f250 platinum for daily use for work and love it. Maybe consider that? But it's REALLY big.

Definitely has to be 4 door and I'm not a pickup person really. I do need AWD or at least 4WD for winters here in Denver. I don't think I'm particularly expected to drive anything that crazy, but I'm a car geek and like to treat myself .

I would go with the Merc or Audi S6 / S7
I've always loved the S7 / and particularly the RS7 but I feel that may be a bit out of reach / not necessary for what you're wanting. The regular A6/A7 are OK, but don't offer as much excitement as the S versions.
Take a seat and drive in one. The seats are amazing in my opinion and if you went used, you may be able to still get the V8

Depending on where you live, the ability to move around in the winter may mean SUV or as a minimum AWD with snow tires on a sedan. I like using Porsche for my recreation vehicles and BMW as my daily. Currently my daily is a BMW X3 Msport with Dinan tune; close to 350 HP in a decent sized platform. The true X3M should be out in 2019 with what I understand will be close to 450 HP. Add the Dinan tune to that and it should be 550HP. The current X3 4.0 is sub 5 second already.
Another option at least for me would be an AWD M5 with a separate set of snows for the winter. I currently have a E39 M5 as my daily car backup; still a good car although it's 15 years old now. You should be able to find a used 2018 M5 for around $100k, I would think. Cayenne or Macan is always an option as well.
But with either of these selections, you can kiss the 50 mpg days goodbye.

Honestly the X3 does everything well, I find excuses to borrow my wife’s x3. Get a truck it’s usefulness makes more sense than the cars you listed. The new raptor is absolutely amazing.
