Default How Much Extra is X50 Worth?

Conventional wisdom says options are less than .10 on the dollar on used cars. Yet a factory power pack could be worth more as those that don't want more power but like to keep their cars stock might really value.

If two cars have 20k miles, same options but one is X50 how much MORE if any would you say X50 car would bring on the open market?

Personally, I think X50 is worth $0.

But in the marketplace, it looks like +$3-4K

I think it is worth more on a unicorn (sub 20k mile car in excellent or near perfect condition). In an average mile driver, I think techweenie is correct ~$3k-ish, but only to the right buyer.

Here on Rennlist people may say otherwise. Understand there's a world out there besides this. I think ZERO value to me, but some to keep stock and have the extra power it may be worth 3k as stated.

I just bought one and my calculus put it around 3-5K so there's a datapoint from somebody who just put down real money on an X50 car.

I think if you're selling an excellent condition one in 10 years and car has OE k24 turbos the gap will widen. I put mine on a shelf with under 15k on them in case I ever want to unwind the mods (very unlikely).

Agree with all of the above. I was going to say $3-5k before I saw any replies ($0 if you plan to mod + drive the car yourself).

If you have an insurance payout on a total loss..
You'll add 4/5k to the payout over a non x50 equipped car.

Maybe as much as $7K if the X50 is a Tip. Rare.

As others have mentioned above, on a "driver", it really has minimal value... These cars are so easy to tune for more power with the regular turbos that have less lag than the X50's, and hybrid K16/K24 turbos work better than the straight X50 turbos for higher performance levels.

But on a very low mileage "collector car" (if you buy into any 996 Turbo being a collector car), X50 can increase the rarity and value.

PS, I disagree about the X50/Tiptronic being particularly valuable... As a few tuners have pointed out, it is the "mother of all lags" with both a laggy transmission and laggy turbo! Evidently not all that pleasant to drive.

5k or more depending on the car in question... so many variables.

I'm with Carlo.. 5k.

From the way the guys that own them are always having to say theirs is an X50 I'd say it must add at least 2 inches.
