Numeric shifter install
Just finished installing my Numeric shifter that I recently purchased from the group buy. Initial impression is very positive! I have mine set in the middle setting and cant really imagine changing it from there. The throw is perfect, tge engagement is firm but incredibly well placed. Feels solid with no wiggle room when in gear. Pretty much everything ive ever wanted in a shifter. Very happy with my group buy purchase. Install took a couple of hours with me taking my time. Not difficult, just time consuming and more difficult to get the center console out with the shoulder bolsters from my Recaro Pole Position seats. Fit and finish was great. Worthwhile mod for sure if you can get it on a group buy at a discount. Mark me down as another happy customer.

Yes, it is said to be. It is a little bit more expensive with a group buy, and a lot more without. I would have went with 997 ssk if I didnt get the group buy. Quality difference though compared to the plastic housing is very much in the Numeric shifters favor.

50/50 on doing the cables.

It is very direct feeling, some increase in effort but each shift is "oh yep no doubt thats 1st,2nd,3rd" etc. I think notchy more when a short throw isnt working or calibrated correctly that it hesitates going into gear. This does not do that. Mine is also set on the middle setting. I think the shortest setting may require too much effort, and take away the smooth direct ess that it has. im so happy right now with it, I dont want to touch it and tempt fate lol.

I can understand short throw shifters being to each persons tastes. I had a B&M shifter on my VW gti, and that thing was a steaming pile of garbage. The pin that the shift lever actuated on actually fractured at the end and the shifter fell down into the shift housing one day. That shifter was stiff just for the sake of stiff, engagement was poor etc. So after that experience for years, I know what I do not like in a short throw. The Numeric is completely different. Which is a very good thing. No wonder B&M discontinued that shifter...

I'd love to try one of these out. Do any SoCal owners have one? We put a B&M in my father's Carrera Cab and the throw is too short and "stiff" for my liking. He seemed to prefer it to the OEM one. I suppose I'm looking for an experience somewhere between OEM and what I experienced with the B&M. Another member and friend put in a 997 GT3 shifter and while it is an improvement, the difference is very subtle and not quite enough for me.

I've had the 997 SSK, the Numeric with and without the cables. With cables is what the car should shift like from Porsche.
As mentioned above it does add a little NVH to the interior, nothing bad but you can hear a couple of the gears.
