Do you need weight off the tires to change this out or can you drive up a ramp and change this?

It appears from John's first post and from looking at PET part lists. that:

- 996 generation. All non-GT get steel. All GT get Aluminum
- 997.1 generation. Turbo retains steel. All others, including C4S get Aluminum.
- 997.2 generation. All, including turbo, Aluminum. Same part.
- 991.1 generation. All, including turbo, Aluminum. Same part.

Draw whatever conclusions you prefer...

Does that mean that the bolded above is not accurate?

I have noticed that the $40 eBay finds are no longer. The salvage Porsche part places must be on the forums.

Or they simply noticed a 1000% increase in sales and decided to raise prices. Bummer, though, I should have jumped on it.

Damn, mines still sitting on the floor of my garage. So valuable now, anyone want to trade it for a 1976 Turbo?

A small legal disclaimer in out litigious society, the TT cross brace is steel due to the portly weight of the 996TT so as with any mods, use the aluminum one at your own peril..
quoting this post because i couldn't find the torque values for this aluminum/aluminium crossmember mod...

Prices are down on these again, I noticed they are pretty easy to find around $60 currently. The price probably shot up from everyone trying to buy one when John made this thread.

I have one on my car, definitely worth the hour of effort to install.
